After 10 years walking the streets for Royal Mail, I left postal delivery behind and moved to the amazing city of London.
That was 2008.
I am largely a self-taught coder, and have surrounded myself with talented people to ensure a greater development of my skills. I have delivered to high standard in all my opportunities ranging from freelancing for unique and passionate creatives, developing small startups, to supporting the fast-paced environments found in larger corporations.
Over the last 8 years I have enjoyed working with backend developers, founders, marketing teams, investors and passionate clients. I employ a practice of inspiring, developing and optimising both in code and core values.
I enjoy and embrace fully the constant challenge of change, innovation, problem solving and strategy. I am intensely self-disciplined, self-driven and focused.
I am very comfortable when postitioned in leading and inspiring roles, and relish the excitement and motivation that emerges from team empowerment.
I have high analysis skills and I am always seeking out new perspectives and approaches to problems.
I design websites in code and utilise solid grid systems, strong typography and white space. I don't make pictures of websites.
Design extends way beyond perfect pixel placement on a screen, it is in everything we experience, touch, feel and appreciate. It helps us navigate, communicate, learn, inspire and redefine. It is fundamental in how we shape and exist in our world.
Design is a mindset.
I enjoy incredible coffee and recommend Has Bean Coffee, not only for its great taste, but also for the inspiring and incredible achievements of founder Steve Leighton.
I enjoy playing table-top games such as Dead of Winter and Kingdom Death: Monster, and love designing decks and playing FFG's LCG Android: Netrunner.
I am the founder of a record label called SM-LL which I run with my talented and beautiful wife Lucia. We are in our 4th year. SM-LL borrows from Agile practices in the way it operates, develops and releases music. We work with a variety of incredibly talented artists from across the globe.
I also programme electronic music into computers and hardware and have done so since I was 10 years old.
My dream design job would be in Wayfinding.
